Crowns & CapsIn Gilbert, arizona

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.
Dr. Masters and his staff do an amazing job.  The front office let me know the cost and what my insurance covered and there were no surprises.  Dr Masters put me at ease and I felt no pain with the procedures I had done.  I had a few fillings and the crown for an implant done.  I highly recommend this office.

Although there are several types of crowns, porcelain (tooth-colored crown) are the most popular. They are highly durable and will last many years, but like most dental restorations, they may eventually need to be replaced. Porcelain crowns are made to match the shape, size, and color or your teeth giving you a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.

Reasons For Crowns:

  • Broken or fractured teeth.
  • Fractured fillings.
  • Cosmetic enhancement.
  • Large fillings.
  • Tooth has a root canal.
  • Decayed teeth.

Single Appointment Crowns

Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get the area numbed, your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, get numbed again, have the temporary removed, and have a permanent crown put on. With CEREC®, the procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish.

Finest Dental Materials

A CEREC® tooth restoration is not just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC®, Dr. Masters uses strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates, making it less likely to cause cracking and breakage. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so Dr. Masters can save as much healthy tooth structure as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.

The Process

CEREC® uses computer technology, CAD-CAM (Computer Assisted Design - Computer Assisted Manufacturing) to exact specifications for the ultimate in ceramic tooth restoration. Our doctor will take an optical image of the tooth using a special camera. The image is then sent to the CEREC® computer. With this technology, our doctor will specifically design and shape the tooth that needs to be restored. When the model is complete, a milling machine sculpts the actual restoration out of a dental ceramic block using diamond head cutters under computer control. Only the finest dental restoration materials are used to create attractive, tooth-like surfaces that are very difficult to distinguish from your natural teeth.Like a natural tooth, the ceramic material used in CEREC® restorations expands and contracts with hot and cold, making it less likely to cause cracking and breakage. CEREC® technology offers many advantages over traditional tooth restoration procedures. There are no impressions made and no temporary teeth needed. The ceramic material used for the restoration is natural looking and more durable than processed ceramic. The material is biocompatible, high-grade and is resistant to abrasions. The ceramic bonds to the healthy tooth.
